Deepening Democracy through Access to Information

Faith Mazibuko

Faith Mazibuko is a South African public health official who has served in senior management roles within the Gauteng provincial health system. She has held positions of significant administrative responsibility in the province's hospital network, including at Tembisa Hospital, one of Gauteng's major public healthcare facilities. Her career has intersected with periods of intense scrutiny of healthcare governance and financial management in the province. Mazibuko has been involved in operational and administrative decision-making during times when Gauteng's health department faced investigations into procurement irregularities and service delivery challenges. Her work has brought her into contact with provincial oversight bodies, including the Gauteng Provincial Legislature, where health officials are regularly called to account for departmental performance. She has operated within a complex environment characterised by high patient volumes, resource constraints and political oversight from both the provincial executive and opposition parties. Mazibuko's role has placed her at the intersection of clinical service delivery and administrative accountability in one of South Africa's most populous and politically significant provinces. Her tenure has coincided with interventions by bodies such as the Special Investigating Unit, which has examined governance and procurement practices across Gauteng's public health infrastructure.
