Cape Peninsula University Of Technology
Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) is a public university of technology based in Cape Town, South Africa, with campuses across the Western Cape province. It was formed in 2005 through the merger of the Cape Technikon and Peninsula Technikon. CPUT offers vocational and career-focused qualifications spanning engineering, business, health sciences, applied sciences and design, with a strong focus on practical, industry-aligned training. It is one of the largest higher-education institutions in the Western Cape by student enrolment, serving tens of thousands of students. The university partners with industry and government on skills-development initiatives, including programmes aimed at building technical capacity in fields such as electrical engineering. CPUT plays a significant role in producing skilled graduates for South Africa's manufacturing, energy and infrastructure sectors. It maintains links with international corporations and development agencies that support vocational training and technology transfer. The institution is governed by a council and management structure typical of South African universities of technology. Its research and teaching activities contribute to addressing the country's shortage of technically skilled professionals.
