Deepening Democracy through Access to Information

ActionSA

ActionSA is a South African political party founded in 2020. The party positions itself as a centrist alternative focused on combating corruption, improving service delivery and promoting economic growth. ActionSA was established by former Johannesburg mayor Herman Mashaba following his departure from the Democratic Alliance. The party contests elections at national, provincial and municipal levels across South Africa. ActionSA has gained representation in several metropolitan councils, including Johannesburg, Tshwane and Ekurhuleni, where it has participated in coalition governments. The party's policy platform emphasises job creation, border security, law enforcement and accountability in government. ActionSA has been vocal on issues of illegal immigration, organised crime and the management of South Africa's border posts. The party advocates for stricter immigration controls and enhanced capacity for agencies such as the Border Management Authority. ActionSA has positioned itself as a growing force in South African opposition politics, seeking to attract voters disillusioned with established parties.
