Rosslyn
Rosslyn is an industrial area located in the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality, north-west of Pretoria in Gauteng province, South Africa. The area is one of the country's most significant automotive manufacturing hubs, hosting major vehicle assembly plants and component suppliers. Rosslyn is home to production facilities operated by leading automotive manufacturers including Nissan and BMW, which have maintained long-standing operations in the precinct. The industrial zone also supports a network of automotive component manufacturers and suppliers that form part of South Africa's automotive value chain. Beyond automotive manufacturing, Rosslyn hosts facilities from other sectors, contributing to its status as a diversified industrial node. The area's strategic location near major transport routes and proximity to Pretoria has reinforced its role as a manufacturing centre. Rosslyn has been central to discussions around South Africa's industrial policy, deindustrialisation concerns and the transition to electric vehicle production. The precinct's future development is closely tied to government support for automotive manufacturing, energy security and the competitiveness of South African industry in global markets. Rosslyn was established as an industrial area in the mid-twentieth century and has evolved alongside South Africa's automotive sector growth and challenges.
