Business Against Crime South Africa
Business Against Crime South Africa is a nonprofit organisation that mobilises the private sector to combat crime, corruption and organised crime in South Africa. The organisation works in partnership with government law enforcement agencies, including the South African Police Service, the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation and the National Prosecuting Authority, to strengthen the criminal justice system and improve prosecution outcomes. It was established by the business community to address the impact of crime on economic growth, investor confidence and social stability. Business Against Crime South Africa focuses on areas including commercial crime, corruption, money laundering, cybercrime and organised criminal networks. The organisation provides technical expertise, resources and capacity-building support to law enforcement and prosecutorial bodies. It also advocates for policy reforms and improved governance frameworks to tackle systemic weaknesses that enable criminal activity. Business Against Crime South Africa is closely aligned with Business Leadership South Africa, which represents the country's largest corporations and business organisations. The organisation's work is informed by international standards and frameworks, including those set by bodies such as the Financial Action Task Force and the G20. Through its interventions, Business Against Crime South Africa seeks to create a safer operating environment for business and to protect South Africa's economic interests from the corrosive effects of crime and corruption.
