The Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs has by notice in the Government Gazette in terms of section 7(1)(c) read with section 73 of the NEMWA given notice of her intention to set a national standard for the assessment of waste for landfill disposal.
This Standard prescribes the requirements for the assessment of waste prior to disposal to landfill in terms of regulation 8(1)(a) of the Waste Classification and Management Regulations, 2012.
Members of the public are invited to submit to the Minister, written comments on the standard within 30 days of the publication of the notice in the Government Gazette (i.e. 9 September 2012).
