On 7 September 2012 the Director General of Water and Environmental Affairs published a notice inviting comments from the public and interested parties on the proposed National Water Resource Strategy 2.

The Strategy is a requirement in terms of the NWA and sets out the strategic direction for water resources management with particular focus on priorities and objectives for the period 2013-2017. It provides the framework for the protection, use, development, conservation, management and control of water resources, as well as the framework within which water must be managed at catchment level, in defined water management areas.

Interested parties are given 90 days from publication of the notice in which to comment thereon (i.e. until 6 December 2012).
