Notice number 498 published in Government Gazette number 35477 on 28 June 2012 entitled “EXTENSION OF THE TIME PERIOD FOR A GENERAL AUTHORISATION PUBLISHED IN TERMS OF SECTION 39 OF THE NATIONAL WATER ACT, 1998 (ACT NO 36 OF 1998) TO 30 JUNE 2012” is withdrawn and superseded by the following notice:

The Director-General of the Department of Water Affairs has extended the time period of the General Authorisation relating to sub-sections 21(a) and 21(b) of the NWA, as published in the Schedule to Notice 399 in the Government Gazette of 26 March 2004, as extended in Notice 313 in the Government Gazette of 20 March 2009 and extended in Notice 837 in the Government Gazette of 23 September 2010, for a further period until it is withdrawn by notice in the Government Gazette.

We have noted that although the heading of Notice number 498 published in Government Gazette number 35477 on the 28 June 2012 refers to the date 30 June 2012, the contents of such notice indicated that the time period of the General Authorisation relating to sub-sections 21(a) and 21(b) of the NWA had been extended until withdrawn by notice in the Government Gazette, as is indicated in this notice. We have contacted the Department of Water Affairs for clarification and were advised that the purpose of this notice is to withdraw the erroneous notice as set out in notice number 498.
