Legal Update: National Water Act 36 of 1998

The Acting Director General of the Department of Water Affairs published a Restriction o­n the use of water for domestic, industrial and agricultural use from the Algoa Water Supply System, in the Fish-to-Tsitsikamma Water Management Area (WMA 15) in the Eastern Cape Province as set out in the Notice. These restrictions will be applicable for the period from 1 July 2011 until 30 June 2012, or until any further Notice is published. This Notice overrides any other previous authorisation o­n the water restrictions issued by the Department relating to the abovementioned area and to the users and infrastructure mentioned in the Notice. See Government Notice No. 640 in Government Gazette No. 34505 of 5 August 2011.
