Draft Integrated Industry Waste Tyre Management Plan of the Recycling and Economic Development Initiative of South Africa published for public comment

The Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs published the draft Integrated Industry Waste Tyre Management Plan ("IWTMP") of the Recycling and Economic Development Initiative of South Africa ("REDISA") as set out in the schedule to the notice for public comment.

Members of the public are invited to submit written comments or objections to the draft IWTMP within 30 days of the date of publication of the notice (i.e. on or before 17 May 2012).

The IWTMP addresses, inter alia, the following:

• Projected volumes of tyres becoming waste tyres;
• Identification of waste tyre processors;
• Registration and duties of tyre transporters;
• Waste storage sites;
• External audits; and
• Non-compliance by various parties.
