Zest WEG Group, a subsidiary of leading Brazil-based equipment manufacturer WEG, distributes manufactures and supports a diverse portfolio of products, services and solutions across various industry segments.

Over the past 25 years, Zest WEG Group has grown by expanding its product portfolio through a series of strategic acquisitions.  The significant investments associated with these acquisitions, together with the investments made by our parent company WEG, have strengthened our local manufacturing footprint and contributed towards an increase in local content in all the products we make.  Across our three manufacturing divisions (WEG Transformers Africa, Shaw Controls and Zest Generator Sets), we operate four factories in South Africa.  This has all contributed towards creating job opportunities, which is much needed in South Africa considering the high rate of unemployment.

We have also adapted to the ever-changing economic environment in South Africa, which is evident through our ongoing commitment to the socioeconomic transformation process.  This has been a journey that resulted in us achieving a Level 1 BBBEE rating in 2018 (51.6% black ownership with 32.1% black women ownership, and 135% procurement recognition level).

Another key focus area for our company is our ongoing commitment to skills development, not only through training and skills transfer programmes internally, but also through formal training programmes offered to all stakeholders in the industries in which we are involved.

Our fundamental view is that investing in the economic value chain as a whole will lead to improved skill levels and a more self-sustainable economy.
