Zambia's government has started discussions with a visiting International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission on a new lending programme, its finance ministry said on Wednesday.
The Southern African copper-producing country's previous $1.7-billion IMF arrangement expired in January, and it has said it wants to agree a new programme by the end of the year.
The IMF mission is scheduled to run until October 10, the finance ministry said in a statement.
