Women from Mining Affected Communities United in Action (WAMUA) will be picketing outside the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) on Tuesday, 07 February at 11AM.
The CTICC is currently hosting the world's largest mining conference with more than 6000 delegates expected to attend.
Meanwhile activists from mining-affected communities are staging their own alternative mining indaba that serves as a forum to raise concerns about challenges they face in mining-affected communities.
WAMUA delegates who are in Cape Town to attend the alternative mining indaba feel that the Africa Mining Indaba excludes communities that are affected by mining activities.
