The Health Portfolio Committee has announced that Tshilidzi Munyai will act as the committee’s chairperson until the election of the new chairperson.

This follows the appointment of the former chairperson Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo as the Deputy Minister of Health. Dhlomo replaced former Deputy Minister of Health Dr Joe Phaahla who is now the Minister of Health.

Earlier this month President Cyril Ramaphosa’s anticipated Cabinet reshuffle saw the appointment of 10 new Ministers.

Munyai has been a member of the committee since its establishment in 2019.

“Munyai has a sound leadership experience which he gained from various leadership positions he held within his political party, the African National Congress. The leadership positions he held include Head of Election Research, Chairperson of Ideology, Political Education and Training – Walter Sisulu Leadership Academy and Regional Secretary of the ANC Ekurhuleni Region,” said the Portfolio Committee of Health.
