The Tobeka Madiba Zuma Foundation in association with CHART Organisation will launch its annual youth project “Develop Our Youth” on Friday July 8 2016, in Bosco Center, Johannesburg. Develop Our Youth is an annual youth camp aimed at uplifting pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds and seeks to groom them to become responsible and ambitious young people who believe in themselves. The project seeks to equip and empower young people with the knowledge and skills that will help them in all spheres of life.
“This project aims to not only promote the love of education, but to also expose and equip students with life-skills and the necessary skills needed in their higher education careers, skills that will put them in a position to better compete in a competitive market space,” says Madam Tobeka Madiba Zuma, Patron and Founder of TMZ Foundation.
“Young people in society are often not given exposure to life outside their immediate surroundings. Therefore, they miss out on opportunities that could assist them in leading better lives and making a real difference in their societies,” Madam Zuma adds.
The camp comprises of 30-50 learners from the Gauteng province.
The program will include talks by LEAD SA; discussions on healthy living by the First Lady of South Africa; career guidance by the Deputy Minister of higher Education Mr. Mduduzi Manana and many more other leadership activities from the Tobeka Madiba Foundation Youth team. “The youth of today is not always inspired to become better people, to do greater things nor to uplift themselves and others around them. They are rather faced with many challenges and most of the time left to fend for themselves against things they have never been exposed to. This project aims to rectify that, and not only that, but to also ensure that they are inspired and equipped to tackle any challenges they may be faced with,” says Philasande Onke Dladla, TMZF Youth Ambassador.
The camp is set to take place on 1PM on Friday 8 July and will end on Sunday 10 July. Sponsors include Dischem, Mr. Price and the City of Tshwane. Transport, accommodation and meals will be provided.
