There’s a reason Jacana Media has published six of Denis Hirson’s books, and why close to 300 participants have signed up for his writing workshops. Denis’s words are punchy and memorable, wry and tender. His prose sings off the page, and he is a true scholar of the craft of writing.
‘There was Derek with his smooth raven-black hair and his violin; freckle-faced David; Peter of the hospitable mansion with a boxing bag swinging in the middle of the garden and a great cage of singing birds to one side; Boykie and his inexhaustible supply of jokes; Malcolm, Stephen, Ashley, Jacky whose house had recently been burgled; slothful, scheming Paul of the slack belly and bank-bags bloated with marbles.’
– My Thirty-Minute Bar Mitzvah
Join Denis for his final two interactive memoir-writing workshops of the year and you could be bringing characters to life like a pro too. You’ll leave brimming with inspiration and with answers to your burning questions about the art and process of penning creative non-fiction.
You don’t need to have attended previous workshops to participate. And, while reading the selected book beforehand is highly recommended, it’s not essential.
The final two workshops will explore the following memoirs:
- 4 November – Question 7 by Richard Flanagan
- 2 December – Everyone Is Present by Terry Kurgan
You can also sign up for the full package and gain access to recordings of the first two workshops, allowing you to learn from the comfort of your own space, at your own pace.
