Libraries are essential to education, research and access to knowledge across South Africa. At the heart of every library are dedicated professionals who  connect people with trusted information, embrace new technologies and respond to evolving user needs.

One of the most important opportunities for learning, collaboration and professional growth within the sector is the Library and Information Association of South Africa (LIASA) Conference (LIASA 2026). Bringing together library and information professionals from across the country, LIASA provides a platform to share ideas, explore emerging trends and engage in conversations that help shape the future of libraries and information services.

As the information landscape becomes increasingly complex, continuous professional development remains essential. Conferences such as LIASA 2026 enable professionals to learn from peers, build valuable networks and gain practical insights that can be applied within institutions and communities across South Africa.

As part of our ongoing commitment to the sector, Sabinet is sponsoring four delegates to attend LIASA 2026. Supporting opportunities for learning, collaboration and knowledge sharing within the profession.

Delegates take new ideas, experiences and connections back to their institutions. They share them with colleagues and ultimately benefit the researchers, students and communities their libraries serve.

For more than four decades, Sabinet has worked alongside libraries, researchers and information professionals. We recognise that strong professional networks and shared knowledge are vital to building resilient, future-focused libraries.

By supporting participation in LIASA 2026, we are helping to build a stronger, more connected library and information community. We look forward to the conversations, insights and collaborations. These will continue to strengthen the profession and the important work libraries do across South Africa.
