The DA conducted an oversight visit to the town of Springfontein to assess the progress of a sports facility that was supposed to be constructed. The main reason was to ensure that the project was progressing as planned, but we were shocked by the facility's deplorable condition.

The walls that had been erected were broken down, the buildings were incomplete, and the project as a whole was basically non-existent.

The project was valued at R 9.2 million, of which R 7.9 million was already spent. The consultant in charge of the project was Nala Consultants, and the contractor was Nomane Urban.

The incomplete sports facility has a significant impact on the community, as it denies them access to sports and recreational activities. This could have a negative effect on the mental and physical health of the residents, especially the youth, who are in dire need of such facilities.

The DA is determined to rectify this situation by seeking clarity in council and district municipality meetings. DA Member of Parliament Karabo Khakhau will introduce questions at the provincial and national levels. The goal is to find out what happened to the funds that were appropriated for the sports complex and what happened to the contractors who were supposed to complete it.

The DA is committed to addressing the issue of the incomplete sports facility in Springfontein. We will ensure that the project is completed and that the community has access to sports and recreational facilities that are essential for their physical and mental well-being.
