Congratulations to Khumisho Moguerane, winner of the 2025 NIHSS Best Nonfiction Monograph award and the 2025 Sunday Times non-fiction literary award, for being awarded the 2026 Southern African Historical Book Prize for Morafe: Person, Family and Nation in Colonial Bechuanaland 1880’s – 1950’s !
This prize recognises outstanding scholarship that advances our understanding of the history of Southern Africa. The committee were impressed by the strength and diversity of submissions received, and also present an honourable mention to A Seed of a Dream: Morris Isaacson High School and the Struggle for Education in Soweto, 1956–2012 by Cliver Glaser (Jacana Media).
