This week in the Western Cape Provincial Parliament, SAPS will brief the Standing Committee on Community Safety on the 2021/22 Policing Needs and Priorities (PNP) Report.
Last month, the Western Cape Department of Police Oversight and Community Safety tabled the PNP report which found chronic understaffing within SAPS, a provincial SAPS to population rate of 1:417, and the caseload for detectives averaging over 200 dockets per person.
The meeting will take place on Tuesday, 7 March 2023, in the WCPP Chambers at 9:00.
Also on Tuesday, PRASA will be briefing the Standing Committee on Transport regarding the status of its operations and integrated Security Plan in the Western Cape. The meeting will also take place in the WCPP Chambers at 13:00.
We look forward to these engagements with SAPS and PRASA as it is critical that national entities report back to provincial legislatures on the issues that affect local communities.
