High water usage industries have a responsibility to maximise the reuse of their wastewater through scientifically based, environmentally responsible water treatment programmes. Alula Water prides itself on the design and engineering of cost effective, efficient, and sustainable water treatment solutions.

Refreshing water services through rebranding

Ovivo Aqua, previously owned by multinational water treatment organization, Ovivo Inc, has been acquired by a consortium of South African industrialists, comprised of 55.5% black entrepreneurs, over 30% of whom are businesswomen. The new shareholders have a set vision to respond to client’s needs in a relevant and suited manner, and to also bring innovative, yet proven solutions that will reorganize the approach to water and wastewater treatment.

This introduces the rebranding of the company from Ovivo Aqua SA (Pty) Ltd, previously a subsidiary of a multinational, to Alula Water (Pty) Ltd, a South African owned and locally rooted business.

Alula

The name is derived from the avian alula – small winglet, akin to a human thumb – which allows precise control in-flight, enhancing lift and creating aerodynamic movement. The alula allows fluidity of a bird’s flight.  Similarly, water and wastewater treatment soars to new heights with Alula Water’s approach to solutions engineering, expertise, professionalism and select cutting-edge equipment. Alula Water provides a fluid and seamless service to engineer industrial and process water, potable water and wastewater.   The additional effort to closely study the water and wastewater landscape to shape solutions best suited to our clients and the market overall is what is termed “the Alula effect.”

“We aim to bring improved and new, yet proven, solutions that are relevant and transformative to our clients’ infrastructure in order to accelerate delivery on the current challenges of water and wastewater,” says Alula Operations and Strategy Director, Dinao Lerutla.
