State-owned regional airline SA Express, which is currently in business rescue, has announced that it would suspend its operations on Wednesday (March 18). This was because of “adverse recent developments including the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.”
The suspension will be “until further notice”. During the suspension period the airline would seek to improve its efficiency by streamlining its operations. It would also review its network.
In its statement, SA Express assured its customers that they would be accommodated on alternative flights. As for its staff, all “non-critical” employees would be placed on compulsory leave for the duration of the suspension.
