In the by-elections contested on 8 November 2023 in the Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, and the Western Cape provinces, the African National Congress (ANC) and the Democratic Alliance (DA) 

both retained their seats. The DA retained all four (4) seats and the ANC retained two (2) seats.

The new ANC councillors are:

·       Solly Solomon Rabalago, in Ward 01 Ephraim Mogale Municipality– LIM471, Limpopo. The party retained the seat it won in the 2021 Municipal Elections, with 62,28% of the total votes cast, compared to 70,63% during the 2021 Municipal Elections. Voter turnout was 52,96%.

·       Khandizwe Johannes Makhubu, in Ward 09 Msukaligwa Municipality – MP302, Mpumalanga. The party retained the seat it won in the 2021 Municipal Elections, with 78,92% of the total votes cast, compared to 72,78% during the 2021 Municipal Elections. Voter turnout was 41,40%.

The new DA councillors are:

·       Anna Alida Erasmus, in Ward 47 City of Tshwane Municipality – TSH, Gauteng. The party retained the seat it won in the 2021 Municipal Elections, with 98,60% of the total votes cast, compared to 69,84% during the 2021 Municipal Elections. Voter turnout was 21,27%.

·       Issabel Alta de Kock, in Ward 64 City of Tshwane Municipality – TSH, Gauteng. The party retained the seat it won in the 2021 Municipal Elections, with 66,77% of the total votes cast, compared to 53,31% during the 2021 Municipal Elections. Voter turnout was 23,60%.

·       Fiona Hope Niekerk Pelman in Ward 21 Govan Mbeki Municipality– MP307, Mpumalanga. The party retained the seat it won in the 2021 Municipal Elections, with 92,40% of the total votes cast compared to 79,23% during the 2021 Municipal Elections. Voter turnout was 22,29%.

·       Allan Mark Williams, in Ward 07 Swartland Municipality– WC015, Western Cape. The party retained the seat it won in the 2021 Municipal Elections, with 37,48% of the total votes cast compared to 36,34% during the 2021 Municipal Elections. Voter turnout was 51,23%.
