The Ministry of Defence and Military Veterans has not received the report on the inquiry into the death of Collins Khosa at the hands of defence force members during the national lockdown.
The Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Defence and Military Veterans Cyril Xaba said on Wednesday that committee members have been inundated with questions regarding the findings of the report.
Khosa was killed by South African National Defence Force (SANDF) soldiers in April, due to blunt force trauma to the head, when the army stormed into his Alexandra home.
Media reports suggest that the SANDF has cleared their representatives of any wrongdoing.
The renewed spotlight on Khosa’s death comes following the death of African American man George Floyd at the hands of police and the global protests that have surged since.
According to Minister of Defence and Military Veterans Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula the report submitted to the Chief of the SANDF General Solly Shoke was sent back to the Board of Inquiry as the terms of reference have not fully been met.
“As a result of this, the ministry has not yet received the report on the inquiry as reported in the media,” said Xaba.
