He will testify as part of his responsibilities as President.

In July last year, chaos broke out in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng when former president Jacob Zuma was sentenced to 15 months imprisonment after being found guilty for being in contempt of court. The unrest claimed more than 300 lives.

The Commission launched the hearing to find the causes of the unrest and assess its impact on human rights.
