The Asset Forfeiture Unit and the National Prosecutions Services are getting new Deputy National Directors of Public Prosecutions, appointed by President Cyril Ramaphosa to bolster the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).
Advocate Chuma Mtengwane is the new Deputy National Director of Public Prosecutions: Asset Forfeiture Unit, while Advocate Nicolette Astraid Bell has been appointed Deputy National Director of Public Prosecutions: National Prosecutions Services.
Mtengwane, who holds the position of Acting Deputy National Director of Public Prosecutions: Asset Forfeiture Unit, brings 25 years of public sector prosecutorial experience, as well as expertise in criminal investigation, police communications, and trial litigation and settlement negotiation.
Bell joined the prosecution service in 1995, at Krugersdorp Magistrate's Court and has been a Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions for more than 18 years.
She has over 29 years of legal experience, including 18 years at a senior management level in the NPA.
The President consulted with Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development Mmamoloko Kubayi and National Director of Public Prosecutions Advocate Andy Mothibi before making the appointments.
