Solidarity today submitted its report, a proposed roadmap for a race-free South Africa by 2030, to the Dutch parliament. The report was also brought to stakeholders’ attention at the European Parliament during a liaison visit to Brussels.

Jaco Kleynhans, Head of International Liaison at Solidarity, handed over the report, Race-Free by 2030, which was compiled by the Solidarity Research Institute (SRI), as part of his liaison visit to Europe. It contains an actionable plan for the gradual phasing out of race-based legislation and policies.

“South Africa does not need more race-based rules. We need a credible way out of a system that classifies citizens according to their skin colour, hampers economic growth and benefits a small elite without substantially reducing poverty,” said Kleynhans.

The roadmap proposes replacing race-based measures with policies based on socio-economic need, quality education, economic growth and job creation.
