STATEMENT BY PREMIER EDNAH MOLEWA ON APPOINTMENT OF NORTH WEST MEMBERS OF EXECUTIVE COUNCIL, 30 April 2004

I am pleased to announce the names of men and women who will serve in the new Executive Council. They are:

* Rev OJ Tselapedi - Education
* Mr NM Duma - Agriculture, Conservation, Environment and Tourism
* Mr EM Mayisela - Health
* Ms RN Rasmeni - Social Development
* Mr JD Thibedi - Transport and Roads
* Ms M Modiselle - Safety and Liaison
* Mr DE Afrika - Finance and Economic Development
* Mr FP Vilakazi - Local Government and Housing
* Mr HD Yawa - Public Works
* Ms NJ Num - Sports, Arts and Culture

I am satisfied that this competent team, on whose shoulders the hopes and aspirations of millions of our people reside, have the passion and the requisite skills to discharge their responsibilities.

This Executive Council is constituted by men and women whose commitment to rebuilding our country and changing the lives of our people for the better, is well known. Each one of them is highly competent and has an impeccable track record in serving our people.

We undertake to confront, with every available energy and enthusiasm at our disposal, the socio-economic problems that continue to afflict our society.

Collectively, we are building a more hands-on and decisive administration that will ensure faster and more effective implementation of government programmes. We start the third term as a wiser team of cadres because of the experience we have accumulated over the last decade.

This team will continue to build on the firm foundations we have laid over the last ten years. We will be driven by the same hopes and confidence expressed by our people in 1994.

I urge the citizens of North West to support the new Executive Council as we proceed with the long journey that started in 1994.
