The MKP has relieved its secretary-general Sibonelo Nomvalo of his duties, appointing Lindiwe Mtshali as the acting secretary-general, effective Thursday.

According to a party statement, the decision stems from a series of administrative and communication failures that bypassed the party's top leadership.

The party said several critical concerns led to the decision, and noted that these issues compromised organisational coordination, internal communication, accountability, and adherence to party procedures.

In a statement, MKP national spokesperson Sifiso Mahlangu pointed to the establishment of high-level deployment committees without the knowledge or approval of relevant party leadership structures.

He highlighted significant changes within the Parliamentary caucus and Parliamentary administration that were reportedly not communicated to the president, national officials, or the presidency collective.

Mahlangu said there are concerns regarding the councillor selection process, delays in delivering crucial campaign materials, internal factionalism and unresolved matters concerning dual remuneration.

To ensure continuity in the coordination, administration, and organisational affairs of the party, the MKP said Mtshali as an acting secretary-general will work closely with national chairperson Mxolisi Phakathi.

Mahlangu will retain his national spokesperson role while absorbing additional responsibilities associated with the office of the deputy secretary-general.

He will share these administrative functions with Mtshali.

The MKP has instructed all national, provincial, regional, and branch structures to note these changes and extend full cooperation to the newly appointed officials.
