It is extremely concerning that the residents of Boksburg struggle to access police services at the Reiger Park Police Station because it is closed during the night.

In recent video footage that was revealed to the Democratic Alliance (DA), it is seen that the patrollers are unable to access the police station for signing off at approximately at around 3 am.

Several other complaints from the community have alleged that the police officers sleep inside the police station shutting down the station completely.

It is unacceptable that when a resident is faced with an emergency, they are left to fend for themselves as this police station does not operate 24 hours a day.

The DA takes these allegations seriously, as vulnerable community members are left unattended while officers are said to be sleeping inside the station.

The DA demands that the Gauteng MEC for Community Safety, Faith Mazibuko, investigate these allegations and ensure that police services are available 24 hours a day to the community.

We have previously visited the Reiger Park SAPS as part of our #DAGautengPoliceWatch tour and found that this station is another station that has a serious shortage of resources.

The DA will continue to fight to ensure that all police stations in Gauteng are open at all hours and continue to put pressure on the department to ensure that they are adequately resourced.
