The Johannesburg Development Agency (JDA) has appointed Mr Mokgema Mongane as its CEO. Mongane joins the City of Johannesburg’s implementing agent. The appointment is for five years, effective 05 August 2022.
The JDA Board conducted interviews accessing external and internal candidates for this role. Mongane is decisive, focused professional and brings his industry experience and excellent strategic and leadership skills to the JDA.
Mongane holds a master’s in business administration from Regenesys, a master’s in Engineering Management from the University of Pretoria (UP) and a Bachelor of Science Honours in Civil Engineering from Wits University.
Mongane has had an illustrious career. Before joining the JDA, he was the General Manager of Capital Development & Assurance at Transnet State Owned Company (SOC) and a Chief Operations Officer at the Council for the Built Environment.
“With this appointment, we are confident that the JDA is on the right path to fulfilling its mission of planning, implementing, managing, and facilitating area-based developments in efficient, equitable, sustainable, and innovative ways,” Chairman of the JDA board, Mr Lionel Brenner said.
The JDA plays a role in the implementation of the Growth and Development Strategy of the City of Johannesburg. The JDA manages and facilitates developments efficiently to build an equitable, sustainable, and resilient city. The JDA strategically facilitate area-based improvements in line with the City development vision and objectives.
“Every one of us has an important role to play in working ahead, and I’m confident that Mr Mongane, we will achieve great things”, he added.
