Economic growth succeeds or fails at the municipal level. Local governments must become dynamic economic hubs that prioritise local employment, support local businesses and protect the livelihoods of South African residents.

The IFP maintains that unchecked illegal migration continues to place unsustainable pressure on municipal services, healthcare and local labour markets. Municipalities must enforce the law fairly, protect lawful businesses and ensure that South Africans are prioritised for economic opportunities.
