The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in Gauteng, on Tuesday, nominated Councillor Alderman Alco Ngobese to take up the position of Human Settlements Committee chairperson in the Ekurhuleni City Council.

The IFP confirmed that it had been offered the position and had accepted the offer.

“We believe that the offer of this position is as a result of our tireless efforts as the IFP in ensuring that the Department of Human Settlements delivers on its constitutional mandate of ensuring that each Gauteng citizen enjoys the right to access adequate, dignified housing,” said the IFP.

Ngobese has more than 19 years of experience in council and has been a member of the Human Settlements Committee, playing a significant role in holding the government department accountable, the IFP says.

The party said it was confident that Ngobese would use his experience and proficiency in local government to fulfil the role.

“His integrity and track record speaks for itself and inspires us to believe that he will get to the bottom of all the housing challenges within the City of Ekurhuleni,” said the party.
