Former African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) leader and African National Congress national executive committee (NEC) member Comrade Nathi Mthetwa will deliver the Isaiah Ntshangase Memorial Lecture at the Mpophomeni Theatre Hall in the Moses Mabhida Region on Sunday.
Cde Mthethwa, who served as the Regional Secretary of the Southern Natal ANCYL from 1990 to 1992 as well as a member of the ANCYL NEC, will reflect on the life and time of Cde Ntshangase with whom he served as activists for many years under the banner of the then SA Young Congress which was led by Peter Mokaba, Rapu Molekane, Ephraim Nkwe and Sticks Ngubane.
Cde Ntshangase was a truly young lion who served as ANCYL Provincial Chairperson from 1996 until June 2000, making him one of the longest-serving leaders of the Young Lions.
Born in April 1969 in Pongola, Cde Ntshangase was one of the greatest leaders of the Youth League.
He passed away in February 2001. The eThekwini Metro named a road after him in recognition of the pivotal role he played in the ANC.
The Isaiah Ntshangase road connects to other roads named after ANC heroes like Chris Hani Road, Masabalala Yengwa Avenue and also leads to the iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium.
