Economic Freedom Fighters welcome Fighter Kenny Kunene into the ranks of Economic Freedom Fighters. Fighter Kunene joins thousands of Fearless, determined, dedicated, focused, and principled Economic Freedom Fighters whose mission is attainment of economic freedom in our lifetime. EFF particularly welcomes that fact that Fighter Kunene leaves behind a public perception of sushi and army of women to join the economic freedom struggle, which come with lots of sacrifices. The sacrifices will include deliberate orchestrated plans to frustrate his involvement in business and continued threats with investigations and prosecutions. Commander in Chief of Economic Freedom Fighters Julius Malema has gone through the same sacrifices and refused to bow down to authorities even when they continue to harass and intimidate him in a barbaric, unacceptable and pitiful way.
The fact that already there are attempts of intimidate Fighter Kunene through bogus investigations and threats of the Hawks is evidence that what he publicly said is a culture of fear in South Africa is very true. His Fearlessness, determination and commitment to the principles of economic freedom in our lifetime qualifies him to be part of this struggle, which we said requires committed, dedicated and fearless Cadres. EFF is aware that during the State of Emergency in the 1980s, Fighter Kunene was part of the Fearless Young Lions in the Free State who rendered the apartheid machinery unworkable and apartheid system ungovernable. He was detained in 1986 for anti-apartheid struggles at the age of 14, and was a student activist and teachers’ movement when he was a teacher. Even when he was on the wrong side of the law, Fighter Kunene was part of efforts that exposed prison corruption and was released a changed man who did motivational talks and ran anti-crime campaigns in many schools across South Africa. It is that form of courage and dedication that welcomes him into our ranks of Fearless Fighters.
Fighter Kunene now joins an army of Economic Freedom Fighters, Non-governmental organisations, youth, workers, traditional leaders, Activists, Movements, Non-Profit organisations, political parties, churches, Intellectuals, Academics, Students, Traditional Chiefs, Headmen and Kings, Independent Councillors, Internationalists, and many others have responded to the clarion call and gave definite answers on WHAT IS TO BE DONE?
Fighter Kunene joins a struggle which seeks to alter property relations in South Africa and whose principles are in a non-negotiable form include the following:
1. Expropriation of South Africa’s land without compensation for equal redistribution.
2. Nationalisation of Mines, banks, and other strategic sectors of the economy, without compensation.
3. Building State and government capacity, which will lead to abolishment of Tenders.
4. Free quality education, healthcare, houses, and sanitation.
5. Massive protected industrial development to create millions of sustainable jobs including Introduction of minimum wages in order to close the wage gap between the rich and the poor.
6. Massive development of the African economy and advocating for a move from reconciliation to justice in the entire continent.
7. Open, accountable, corrupt-free government and society without fear of victimisation by State police.
We know that Conspirators will begin to allege that ours is a mission informed by failing black Mining corporations that need bail out from their problems. Such hilarious conspiracies have been peddled before with no success, because the big businesses in Mining are symbiotically linked to the Zuma African National Congress, and some, like Cyril Ramaphosa are its leaders. That is why we unapologetically emphasise that our call for nationalisation of Mines and other strategic sectors of the economy should happen without any compensation.
Indeed Fighter Kunene is like the Biblical Saul, who on his way to Damascus discovered the true mission of what he later pursued as Paul. EFF also reaffirms the call made by Jesus Christ in Mount of Olives that “"Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone” at an Economic Freedom Fighter whose mission is pursuit of a generational mission.
EFF will welcome in its ranks all Fighters who are saying Enough is Enough and are guided by the need to achieve the principles set out above. EFF will welcome all Fighters from Trade Unions, NGOs, Academia, Communities, and wherever, as long as they are committed to the Left political programme that seeks to graduate political emancipation into real economic emancipation of all the people of South Africa and the African continent.
