Negotiations were proceeding in a “constructive and productive” manner, United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change executive secretary Christiana Figueres said at a press briefing at the climate change talks in Durban on Tuesday evening.
Issues related to technology were at a level of “being resolved or were resolved”, she reported.
Further, world governments remained firmly committed to discussions around the second commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol.
"I can say governments are not discussing if they would commit to a second period of the protocol, but rather how they will engage in a second commitment period."
The first commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol comes to an end in December 2012, making this year’s climate negotiations under way in Durban the last chance for countries to extend the commitment period.
