Making headlines:

Afriforum weighs in on Mkhwebane's first 100 days

Malema says Mugabe can't control a spade

And, new traditional courts bill 'everyone can live with'

Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane spent most of her first 100 days in office distancing herself from her predecessor, Thuli Madonsela, Afriforum said in a report released yesterday.

The civil rights group’s findings were contained in a short analysis based on media reports on Mkhwebane, who took office on October 17.

The lobby group said in presenting herself as Madonsela’s opposite, or distancing herself from her, she was creating unnecessary headwind before the start of the race.

Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe is incapable of discharging his duties, EFF leader Julius Malema said yesterday.

Malema said President Mugabe could not even control a spade.

He said Mugabe’s continued stay at the helm threatened some of his achievements.

While not everyone will agree with the new version of the Traditional Courts Bill, it is one “everyone can live with”, Deputy Justice Minister John Jeffery said yesterday.

Jeffery said the department hoped to have it introduced in Parliament by the end of the week.

An earlier draft of the bill was rejected in 2016, following criticism from opposition parties and women’s rights groups, who said it trampled on the rights of women, especially in rural areas.
