At a press briefing today, the DA warmly welcomed former GOOD councillors Theresa Jeyi, Richard Hector and Neville Louw to the party. This exodus leaves GOOD with only one councillor left from those elected in 2021, and it also triggers three subsequent by-elections in George.

Together with the number of Patriotic Alliance councillors that were welcomed to the DA over the past few months, it is clear that people continue to choose a well-run party, that takes its mandate to serve citizens seriously and puts the interest of people first.

These individuals joining the DA today are prominent members in their respective communities and it was encouraging to hear that every one of them made the decision to join the DA because they want their communities to be better served, and only the DA can make this a reality.

Theresa made it clear that her decision to join the DA was purely based on the needs of her community. She realized that there is an alternative, that will be to the benefit of residents. Richard mentioned that it was his community that approached him and asked that he rather join a party that can will listen to their needs and deliver proper services where they live. Neville concluded by saying that the DA is fighting for people on a national level and that things are better and services are delivered where it governs.

Currently, the George Municipality is governed by a multi-party coalition, and many successes have been achieved, which includes infrastructure development that creates job and the improvement of service delivery. However, a victory at the upcoming by-elections in these wards would mean that the DA will govern the municipality outright, giving us the opportunity to get even more done for all communities in George.
