Having seen the DA’s work on the ground, especially in communities where the DA has no ward councillor, Mjuza says the party’s consistent service delivery was instrumental to his decision.
The progress made in Cape Town communities is visible, from upgrading sports facilities to releasing City-owned land for development. He was also drawn to the City of Cape Town creating an environment that unlocks private investment in the city, which he envisions to emulate in Gugulethu to empower local entrepreneurs and grow the township economy creating even more jobs for Gugulethu residents.
This also ties into one of the pledges of our Mayoral Candidate, Geordin Hill-Lewis: creating 500,000 more jobs in capetown in the next 5 years.
His decision to leave the ANC and join the DA, also rests on a growing disconnect between the ANC and the communities it is meant to serve.
He believes the ANC sabotages the dignity of residents with their ‘me-first’ approach to serving communities. Where cadres are rewarded, at the expense of the communities they are meant to serve. He has raised continuous concerns with ANC leadership about matters affecting the community but says he was instead victimised and intimidated for wanting to do what is right and serve his residents.
As the DA’s Ward 39 candidate, Mjuza will seek a renewed mandate, to ensure residents come first, service delivery is consistent, protect and advance the DA’s progress in his community, now under the banner of a party who wants to Take Cape Town Forward For All.
ANC voters no longer need to sit on the fence. The ANC is crumbling. The DA is a home for you.
On 4 November, voters can choose between visible DA delivery versus empty ANC promises.
