The DA in Limpopo welcomes the arrest by the Directorate of Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) from Lepelle Nkumpi Municipality over the weekend.

The suspect was reportedly apprehended by the Hawks as she met a businessman in her car in Polokwane to allegedly solicit a bribe after he submitted an application for a tender to supply construction equipment to the Lepelle Nkumpi municipality.

The businessman called the Hawks when he got the call to meet the disgraced CFO in Polokwane, and they set the trap for her arrest. She will now face charges of tender corruption.

We encourage the private sector to continue working closely with law enforcement agencies to end systemic corruption by government officials.

The DA stands for good governance, has a zero-tolerance policy for corruption, and will be monitoring this case closely. The law must take its course.
