The Democratic Alliance has lodged an ethics complaint against the Leader of the Opposition, Dr John Hlophe, for failing to disclose all his interests as per the parliamentary Code of Ethical Conduct and Disclosures of Members’ Interests.
The CIPC and Searchworks databases show that Hlophe is still an active director of two companies: Wynvallei 41 Eiendomme (Pty) Ltd and Malebo Wine Farmers CC, as well as registered owner of a property in Pinelands, Cape Town.
However, Hlophe’s register of interests show a blanket “nothing to disclose” for the period ending 30 June 2026.
Disclosure of interests in terms of the Code is a requirement by Parliament and members are duty bound to make such disclosures public. The DA is of the opinion that Hlophe could not have failed to make such disclosures in good faith and therefore we have submitted this complaint with supporting documents to the Registrar for investigation.
Issued by DA Leader in Parliament George Michalakis MP -
