North West Premier Thandi Modise must suspend the four MECs from her cabinet currently facing criminal charges or corruption investigations.

The very public arrest yesterday morning of MEC China Dodovo makes him the fourth member of the Premier’s cabinet who is no longer fit to hold office:
·          MEC Louisa Mabe (Education) and MEC Paul Sebego (Finance) are implicated in a R15 million procurement scandal currently being investigated by SCOPA.
·          MEC Mosetsanagape Mokomele-Mothibi is fighting for political survival after she admitted guilt in using R174 000 for accommodation for herself, some of her officials and friends during the ANC’s Mangaung Conference. This case may be referred to the NW SAPS Commercial Branch.

The appointment of Finance MEC Sebego to act in the place of MEC Dodovo is a disappointing decision given that Mr Sebego is facing a SCOPA investigation.

Premier Modise is always vocal about fighting corruption but she must now walk the walk and suspend these MECs without delay.
