The Democratic Alliance in KwaDukuza has noted the statement issued by the ANC, confirming they will be submitting a motion of no confidence (MONC) against defiant Mayor Lindile Nhaca.

Following the deafening silence from the ANC since the 28th of September, when they publicly ventilated the Mayor’s suspension, it would appear that the motion submitted by the DA to remove the non-impartial Speaker of Council, has coaxed the ANC into acting against its own.

The ANC has no clear majority in this municipality and will need members of the opposition, including the DA to support their action against their mayor.

At this stage, the party has not discussed its position in regard to the MONC however we are clear that we will not be drawn into supporting the ANC in fighting their own internal battles.

We will further ensure that the citizens of KwaDukuza are protected from the consequences of political intolerance and factionalism.

Issued by Councillor Privi Makhan - DA KwaDukuza Caucus Whip
