Today’s News24/SABI poll confirms the significant shift in South African politics we're seeing on the ground. The DA is now within five points of the ANC nationally, is the most favourably viewed party among voters polled, and is the leading party across the metros surveyed except eThekwini.

The poll gives the DA the best net favourability score of the parties tested. In Tshwane, the DA leads the ANC by eight points. In Johannesburg, Helen Zille leads the mayoral race. In Cape Town, voters are markedly more positive about the direction of their city than they are about the direction of South Africa.

Over the next month the DA will work relentlessly to win as many outright DA majorities as possible to save these municipalities from the chaos of unstable coalitions.

South Africans have seen councils collapse into instability, endless political bargaining and governments that spend more time fighting over positions than fixing roads, collecting refuse or keeping communities safe.

We cannot afford another five years of that.

That is why every DA supporter must turn out on election day. A clear DA majority means a stable government that can get straight to work delivering for residents.

There is a real political shift underway in South Africa. More voters are looking beyond the old politics of decline and towards a party with a record of getting things done.

We will take nothing for granted.

For the remaining weeks of this campaign, we will fight for every ward, every community and every vote — to win the strongest possible mandate to make South Africa work, for everyone.
