I wish to congratulate La Colombe, in Cape Town, and Wolfgat, in Paternoster, on being ranked among the 100 finest restaurants in the world by the World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2022.
The extended list from 51-100 was announced on Wednesday, with Wolfgat ranked 90th and La Colombe just missing out in a place in the top 50 in 56th.
It is no surprise that the only restaurants from South Africa to make the list are based in the Western Cape, as our province is a bastion of culture and recreation.
The fact that Wolfgat made the list despite being based in a small town on the West Coast, further underscores the variety tourist attractions that exist in the Western Cape. Tourism is an important driver of our economy, and it is pleasing, although not surprising, to see talented individuals living in our province contributing to the global reputation of the Western Cape as a must-visit destination.
