The Democratic Alliance has completed the submission of our candidates for all 257 municipalities and all 4,484 wards across South Africa to the Independent Electoral Commission well ahead of today’s 17h00 deadline.

The Democratic Alliance will therefore contest this election in every community, every ward and every municipality in the country.

Thousands of capable South Africans have stepped forward to represent the DA and serve their communities. Our candidates have undergone a rigorous selection process designed to identify capable and committed public representatives who can earn the trust of voters.

The scale of our campaign reflects the scale of our ambition: to grow the DA across South Africa, remove failing local governments and replace them with DA administrations that deliver reliable services, maintain and rebuild infrastructure, protect public money and create the conditions for jobs and economic growth.

Where the DA governs with a clear mandate, we have shown that municipalities can work for all.

In this election, we are taking that record and our offer of a government that works for all to every corner of the country.

South Africans now have the opportunity to unite behind the only party with the national organisation and proven record needed to get municipalities working for all.

The DA is ready.

Our candidates are ready.

Over the coming weeks, every ward in South Africa will encounter a DA candidate on the ground as we head to the 4 November 2026 Election Day.

Issued by Ashor Sarupen MP - DA Federal Council Chairperson
