The Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) in Limpopo will be convening its 6th Provincial Congress on the 10th – 11th of February 2022 at the Bolivia Lodge and Conference Centre in Polokwane. This provincial parliament of the workers will be attended by more than 500 delegates from sixteen (16) unions of COSATU in both the public and private sectors. 

The 6th Provincial Congress will be convened under the theme ”Deepen the Back To Basics Campaign, Consolidate the Struggle for the NDR and Advance the Struggle for Socialism”. The Congress will be an opportunity for the federation to reflect on the work done for the past three years on the Organizational, Socio-Economic, Political, International front and also elect the Provincial Office Bearers for the next term of office. 

The federation will also posthumously honour the late comrade Mark Shope (born in Limpopo Province), the former General Secretary of the South African Congress of Trade Unions (SACTU) which is a forerunner to COSATU, Timson Musetsho, Ronald Mani, Valtyn Kekana, and Ralph Nkanyane, all of whom were killed for their stance against corruption.

Our Congress will be graced by the presence of the alliance partners (ANC and SACP), international guests from our sister federation – the Zimbabwean Congress of Trade Unions, Her Excellency, Ambassador Hanan Jarrar of Palestine, members of the Central Executive Committee of the federation and a keynote address to be delivered by COSATU Deputy General Secretary, comrade Solly Phetoe.

The 6th Provincial Congress will be preceded by the Inaugural COSATU Limpopo Provincial Gender Congress on the 08th – 9th February 2022 at the Bolivia Lodge, as part of enhancing and advancing the gender struggles.
