The Construction Education and Training Authority (Ceta) said it would be allocating R374-million skills development training grants to entities ranging from employer associations, expert bodies, government departments, nongovernmental organisations, further education and training colleges, public institutions and training providers.
This allocation follows a year-long hiatus and moratoriums on project allocation that the administrator had imposed while the organisation was cleaning up an environment which had become characterised by corruption and fraud.
During this period, the organisation revised some of its processes and procedures to ensure that financial allocations would be made to entities characterised by integrity and with the greatest potential to implement the projects successfully in the interest of the learners and prudently managing public monies.
“We are pleased and proud to have reached this milestone where we are able to make financial allocation for training in our sector with confidence, knowing that the resources we invest shall achieve the purpose of quality skills development, job preservation, job creation, poverty alleviation, economic development and nation building,” said acting Ceta CEO Sonja Pilusa.
