As the African National Congress in KwaZulu-Natal we welcome the defeat of the evil alliance of the IFP and the DA in Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality.

We pointed out last week that the modern master and slave coalition in the form of the DA and IFP will  be crushed.

Following the ANC's victory in Ward 14, the organisation is engaging with other political parties as part of the removal of the IFP Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality.

Key takeaways from Inkosi Langalibalele:

●ANC  - 18

●NFP - 3

●EFF - 2

●Independent -1

Total = 24

Evil Alliance

●IFP  - 20 seats

●DA  -  3

Total = 23

The show of strength by the ANC is reflected in the 54.89% votes attained by the organisation.

Importantly, snatching the ward from the IFP is not only an indication of the growth of the ANC in the area but marks another chapter in our efforts to return uThukela District Municipality to the ANC.

We offer to double our efforts to ensure that the community who elected Cde Saziso Shabalala in Ward 14, under Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality are serviced.

By and large, the steady growth of the ANC in all other wards, which were retained by other political parties, is encouraging.

In addition, the growth of the ANC in Ward 29 is testimony to the level of unity and cohesion within the ANC as the party contesting elections as well as in the alliance. This unity will be sustained to augment service delivery to communities throughout the corners of the province.

The next cause of action is to accelerate the total removal of the IFP from uThukela District.

Finally,  once again we wish to extend our gratitude to local communities who voted for the ANC in all by-elections, including in eThekwini Municipality.
