The royal family has been a friend of the ANC for many decades and a trusted ally in tbe struggle against apartheid. For this, Kgoši Kekana.was targeted by the security forces of tbe apartheid regime.

Following the democratic breakthrough in 1994, he continued to play a progressive role playedi in the development of his community and for upholding the culture and traditions of his people.

Kgoši Kekana never saw any contradiction between traditional leadership and the new democratic order. He understood how institutions of traditional leadership should co-exist with systems of constitutional democracy.

We hope other traditional leaders will emulate this progressive example.

Kgoši Kekana will be remembered for his deep and unwavering commitment to the upliftment of his people and country.

The Ndebele of Kekana in Zebediela praise themselves as Ditlou tša Mmabolepu. Kgoši Madimetja Kekana, Sello III is descendant from a long line of leaders who originate from the Ndlovu clan at Kwa-Nongoma in the Natal Midlands.

We convey our heartfelt condolences to the royal family, the people of Zebediela and Limpopo as well as all freedom-loving people across the country.

Robala ka Khutšo Moletlane
